Code of Conduct for Attendees
Expected Behavior
- Treat all attendees, speakers, volunteers, and staff with respect and consideration.
- Engage in constructive and professional discussions.
- Follow event rules and respect the space, property, and resources provided.
- Seek permission before recording or sharing images, presentations, or conversations.
- Comply with all local laws and venue regulations.
Unacceptable Behavior
- Harassment, discrimination, or offensive verbal or physical interactions.
- Disruptive or inappropriate behavior, including excessive drinking, bullying, or aggressive questioning.
- Any form of hate speech, intimidation, or threats.
- Unauthorized solicitation, distribution of materials, or commercial promotions not approved by event organizers.
- Micro-aggressions, including subtle, indirect, or unintentional discrimination or expressions of bias.
Harassment Includes, but is not Limited to:
- Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion.
- Sexual images in public spaces.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
- Harassing photography or recording.
- Sustained disruption of talks or other events.
- Inappropriate physical contact.
- Unwelcome sexual attention.
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.
Consequences of Violations
- Warnings or immediate removal from the event without a refund.
- Reporting of incidents to appropriate authorities when necessary.
Code of Conduct for Speakers
Expected Behavior
- Ensure presentations and discussions are respectful, inclusive, and appropriate for a diverse audience.
- Be professional and prepared, adhering to scheduled times.
- Avoid using offensive, discriminatory, or inflammatory language or visuals.
- Engage with attendees in a constructive and positive manner.
Unacceptable Behavior
- Using derogatory language or imagery in presentations.
- Self-promotion beyond the context of your session or sales-focused presentations without prior approval.
- Failing to respect event guidelines, including time limits and panel moderation.
Consequences of Violations
- Immediate intervention by event organizers.
- Potential removal from the speaker lineup for current or future events.
Code of Conduct for Volunteers
Expected Behavior
- Represent the Build Good Summit with professionalism and courtesy.
- Be punctual, reliable, and committed to assigned responsibilities.
- Assist attendees, speakers, and staff with a positive and helpful attitude.
- Report any incidents, safety concerns, or violations of the Code of Conduct to event staff immediately.
Unacceptable Behavior
- Neglecting assigned duties or behaving unprofessionally.
- Engaging in discriminatory, offensive, or disruptive behavior.
- Misusing access to event resources or information.
Consequences of Violations
- Reassignment or removal from volunteer duties.
- Potential disqualification from future volunteer opportunities.
Reporting and Enforcement
If you experience or witness any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately to event staff. We take all concerns seriously and will act promptly to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.
